Melon Patch Tour 2008 : This is a great little bike rally in the town of De Leon not too far from Stephenville. The people could not have been friendlier, the rest stop fare was top notch and the scenery was pleasant. The ride was fairly hilly. Gary and I did the 100K, which in this rally was 72 miles. We even got to take home a locally grown watermelon!

Melon Patch Tour 2008

Tour de Paris 2008 : Gary & Daphne went to the "Tour de Paris" bicycle rally the weekend of July 19th, 2008. It was a 100K ride and very well organized and supported by the community. Paris High School cheerleaders and dozens of community members cheered the riders on, 450 volunteers manned the rest stops and SAG wagons and we were treated to a pancake breakfast and a hamburger supper. It was lots of fun!

Tour de Paris 2008

Tour de Goatneck 2008 : On Friday, July 25th, Gary & Daphne loaded up their (by now) broken in and trusty companions, Litespeed and Ruby, and headed west to Cleburne, Texas, where they participated in the 21st annual "Tour de Goatneck", a 100k ride over the beautiful and very hilly terrain around Cleburne and Glen Rose, crossing the Brazos River several times (the Goatneck--"The Goat"--is a particularly steep hill). There were nearly 2400 riders and it was one hot Texas Saturday at 104 degrees! Many thanks to all of the volunteers who helped support this ride! Great job!

Tour de Goatneck 2008

Hotter'n Hell Hundred 2008 : Nearly 12,000 cyclists from every state and several nations, and 4,000 volunteers, participated the Big Daddy of all bike rallies in Wichita Falls, Texas, August 21st-24th, including Gary and Daphne. Daphne rode her first 100 mile rally, taking 8 hours to complete the course. Gary finished in 6 1/2 hours.
